000000000000000 Moon ScriptThe spotlight is wonderful, but don’t forget that there is a lot that goes on out of the public view to make any theatrical production a success.  Untold hours of rehearsal and technical production happen before the curtain finally rises on opening night.

Our own Miss Jaye has been producing and directing drag shows for ten years through her production company, Champagne Dreams Productions, but this spring takes a more traditionally theatrical turn by assistant directing for the Firehall Theatre production of Moon Over Buffalo by Ken Ludwig.  Directed by local theatre regular (and Janessa’s close personal friend) Amy Driscoll, the show is a hilarious send up of the eccentric personalities and outrageous situations found in the world of the theatre.  Set in a repertory company in the early 1950s, the play follows show biz couple Charlotte and George Hay whose lucky break might finally have arrived: famed director Frank Capra is coming to see their performance, and may consider them for plush roles in his next film.  But will their opportunity be lost in a flurry of emotional outbursts and bad behavior?  Moon Over Buffalo is the final show in the Firehall’s 65th regular season and runs April 25 – May 5, Thurs – Sat evenings and Sunday matinees.

Auditions will be held at the Firehall Theatre on Sunday, March 3 and Monday, March 4 (7 pm both nights); actors are asked to prepare a short comedic monologue.  The cast is made up of 4 male and 4 female roles, and actors of all ages and levels of experience are invited to audition.
