LONE STAR Closes Out This Year’s Late Night Series at Fire Hall Theatre

Although it has only been in existence for just under 6 months, the Late Night Series at the Fire Hall Theatre has already provided theatre-goers in the Grand Cities with interesting and provocative entertainment aimed at adult audiences.  In December, Nikki Quam directed The Eight: Reindeer Monologues, a hilarious re-telling of the life of Santa through the eyes of his reindeer (and in this version, Nick ain’t no saint!); this was followed by God of Carnage, directed by Therese Borkenhagen and Patrick Pearson, about two suburban couples meeting to discuss a playground altercation and giving in to their own baser instincts, and Snapshots From Armageddon, a Norwegian-style cabaret/sketch comedy show directed by Howie Korsmo and Matt Hegdahl that featured original material developed by the cast and crew.  In June, this year’s Late Night Series will come to a close with the production of Lone Star, a cowboy comedy set deep in the heart of 1970s Texas.

The play stars local theatre regulars Matt Hegdahl, Casey Paradies, and Hyrum Patterson, who also direct and produce the show under the moniker of “The Flying Turtles.”  Show dates are 13 & 14 and 20 & 21 at the Fire Hall Theatre, 9:30 pm with doors opening at 8:30.  Tickets are $8 and available at the door, 18+.

The Late Night Series has been a wonderful addition to the Fire Hall Theatre’s regular season, expanding the voice and tone of what is available to audiences, and we can look forward to more great productions in the seasons to come.
