UND Music Department Presents Opera Double-Bill March 28 & 29

0000000000 Opera PoisonAttention opera-lovers (or music-lovers in general): the UND Music Department is hosting a double-bill of opera at the Hughes Fine Arts Center this Friday and Saturday nights.

First up is Bizet’s Dr. Miracle, a comedic one-act opera about a young man trying to marry his true love, followed by Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial By Jury, a delightful spoof of the legal profession.  These compact stories are perfect for first-timers at the opera and fans of Bizet’s Carmen will enjoy seeing one of his earlier works.  Gilbert and Sullivan, masters of the musical form, lampoons the now almost-forgotten practice of “breach of promise” suits where a woman could sue a man for withdrawing a marriage proposal.

The two shows will be presented back-to-back in Hugh Fine Arts Center Room 202 at 7 pm on both Friday and Saturday nights; tickets are $6, $3 for students or seniors, and you can get a family pack (2 adults and 2 students) for $12.
