Starting Tuesday, April 8th, Grand Forks theatre-goers will have a lot to do to keep them busy: two great new sows are opening next week presented by the UND Theatre Department and the Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre.  And although the timing of the shows may be similar, the subject matter will be very different.

00000 Rumors

First up is Rumors, a farce by Neil Simon, involving several couples at a dinner party where interpersonal conflicts that threaten to overshadow the anniversary celebration for which they have all gathered.  Misunderstandings and dramatic happenings will keep you laughing as no one ever has the full story…and rumors abound!  The show, directed by graduate student Brett Olson, opens Tuesday, April 8, and runs through Saturday, April 12 at the UND Burtness Theatre.  Tickets are available at the box office, 701-777-2587.  This show only runs for one week, so be sure to catch it while it’s on.

0000000000000 Last of the Boys

Opening the next week on Thursday, April 17 is the Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre production of Steven Dietz’s Last of the Boys.  Concerning itself with the legacy of the Vietnam War, this show has a much more contemplative and serious tone, though Dietz’s dialogue does sparkle with flashes of humor and energy.  This show is directed by Kathy Coudle-King and runs Thursday-Saturday from April 17 through May 3 at the Firehall Theatre; there is also a Sunday matinee on April 27.  Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students/seniors/military.

Look for more information coming soon to the World of Champagne, including reviews of both shows and profiles of actress Emily Wirkus from Rumors and Last of the Boys director Kathy Coudle-King!
