000000000000 Hot PantsThis year, the firehouse is about to get a little bit hotter!

Every year, the Great Grand Forks Community Theatre’s main fundraiser is the Fireman’s Ball, and this July 31 the event will feature the 1st Annual “Miss Hot Pants” pageant for a Tony & Tina’s Wedding-style improvisational comedy performance, and two of the contestants duking it out for the crown will be our very own Miss Jaye and her fabulous drag daughter, Kelly Coxsyn!  We don’t have a lot of information about the plot or the situation, but expect lots of glamour, lots of cat-fighting, and lots of surprises – and the winner will be chosen by YOU, the audience!

The event will take place Thursday, July 31 in the basement of the Masonic temple; social hour starts at 6:30 with the live program commencing at 7:30.  Tickets are $50 and must be paid for by July 15.  This is the Firehall’s primary fundraiser for the year, so please consider hosting a table of 8 or making an additional donation – supporting the arts is good karma.  And if you have any karma to spare, send it along to Janessa, Kelly, and the other “Miss Hot Pants” contestants – they’re going to need it!

There may be more “famous faces” joining our lineup for the pageant, and the show also features community theatre personalities like Patrick Frost Pearson, Mark Magnus, Mark Diers (who recently appeared with Miss Jaye in the GGFCT production of The Full Monty as Harold; read more about the director of that show HERE), Mare Thompson, and GGFCT Executive Director, Kathy Coudle-King!

UPDATE (7/06/2014): Mia Starr has also joined the cast as one of the lovely and talented Miss Hot Pants pageant contestants!  Get your tickets now to see all of the lovely ladies in action…and let the catfights begin!

UPDATE (7/10/2014): Claire Wehry has thrown her hat into the ring as the final pageant contestant, rounding out this ragtag collection of bitching beauty queens trying to win the title!  Claire Wehry has appeared in the UND Theatre Dept. production of Shadow Box, which was previously reviewed on our site!
