Miss Janessa loves a Black Friday special as much as the next queen – especially when you DON’T have to stand in line at a crowded store or elbow off soccer moms to get it!  That’s why, in the spirit of staying out of the holiday chaos, I’m doing several great giveaways right here on the World of Champagne!  No standing in line and no leaving your family festivities early required!

So let’s get you entered to win!  All you have to do for your chance to win is leave a comment below with your thoughts on stores opening on Thanksgiving!  Is it retail overkill?  Does it help spread out the Black Friday mayhem to hopefully cut down on accidents and people getting mauled at the mall?  Should they limit the hours they are open on Thanksgiving to evening only?  Tell us your thoughts!

Once you’ve left a comment, you are entered for a chance to win!  All comments left before 10 pm Central Time on December 14 will be entered into a blind drawing to choose the winner (sorry, US residents only).  Winners will be notified by email – be sure to check for a message so I can get your holiday goodies on their way to you!

Happy Holidays from the World of Champagne, and be on the lookout for 2 more fabulous giveaways coming to the site this weekend!

  1. Tara says:

Not happy about stores opening on Thursday. Thanksgiving should be about being with those you love not out shopping for the big deal for a Christmas present. Being with family is all that matters to me.

  2. Angela A says:

Thanksgiving’s Grey Thursday is little by little becoming the new Black Friday. Consumers shopping on that day lessens the next day’s chaos a bit, but it’s unfortunate that one of our nonreligious holidays is being eaten up by people’s need for goods that can often be purchased at the same price in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving.

  3. Patty Teusink says:

Retail overkill! It’s the major stores trying for more of everyone’s dollars. I don’t believe in it and won’t start shopping until Friday (later Friday).

  4. Natalina says:

I just think it is unnecessary for retail stores to be open on Thanksgiving. I feel really badly for the people who have to work on Thanksgiving, knowing that in retail, you don’t really have the option of stating that you cannot work on major holidays. Our culture has become so materialistic that nothing is sacred anymore, and not even ONE day set aside for family and fellowship can remain. That said, consumers tend to drive these types of trends and if no one wanted to shop on Thanksgiving, the stores wouldn’t’ be open so we’re all culpable.

  5. Erinn says:

I love the spirit of giving, but I do not participate in the Black Friday mayhem. If stores are open on turkey day I think they shouldn’t open until evening. Give everyone a chance to enjoy the holiday. Some people have family Black Friday traditions and that fine, but in my house our traditions are less about material things and more about enjoying each other’s company.

  6. Shorty! says:

this would be a great addition to my collection of makeup! Sincerely your #1 sugar squirrel hahaha

  7. Sandy Grissom says:

There are no good reasons for businesses to be open on Thanksgiving. There aren’t enough extra dollars in the tills to justify having employees away from friends and family. To not be able to even set aside one day to be grateful for what we have vs. going out purchasing more speaks to a misguided sense of priorities.

  8. Lisa says:

I used to put up my decorations the day after Thanksgiving,NOW everything is too much! I would decorate if I had kiddies, but open on Thanksgiving? Please.

  9. Kelly coxsyn says:

I’m OK with it. Plenty of other people have to work on holidays. I don’t take part in it because I’d kill a bitch.

  10. Carolsue says:

I don’t think the stores should be open at all on Thanksgiving. But if they are going to, I hope they are paying the employees triple pay! Personally, if I can’t buy it online, I don’t need it!

  11. Ashley Sonnenberg says:

I think its a little much. I think black friday should be only friday there is an option to buy online and that should be all till friday.

  12. brenda disimone says:

Thanksgiving is to be spent with those you love not crowds of angry people

  13. Stephanie says:

i love Black Friday shopping but HATE that stores are open at 6pm on Thursday. Let families enjoy time together and the mayhem launch at the butt crack of dawn on Friday.

  14. Nikki Q says:

Retail overkill! I’ll refrain from any further comments on that! I’m here for the make-up LOL.

  15. Trisha Hickey says:

I love Black Friday shopping it’s crazy and it brings out all the crazys which makes for some fun people watching, my family goes together shopping so I have some really fun holiday memories and memories is what it’s all about not which day you do it! In my opinion.
