DONE TO DEATH Opens GGFCT’s 2015-16 Season With (Another) Interactive Murder Mystery

Done 02The heat is starting to subside (or so we’ve been told) and with students beginning to unpack into their dorms and people getting ready to board up their lake cabins, we know that fall is almost upon us – and that means a new theatrical season as well!  The Empire Theatre Company’s first show of the season, Into the Woods, just dropped its curtain (you can read THE REVIEW if you missed it) and the Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre won’t be far behind: their season opener, Done to Death, opens for a 3-week run on Thursday, September 10.

This may sound a little bit familiar: the Fire Hall opened last season with You Have The Right To Remain Dead, an interactive murder mystery.  While this seems a rather uninspired move, sticking with a previous formula for success, the Fire Hall has done a pretty good job of finding its niche in the Greater Grand Forks Theatrical scene and this year’s season, called Mysteries and Musicals, speaks to its particular strengths.  We’ll be watching carefully to see what C.J. Leigh (who directed last year’s opener as well) and cast will deliver this year to keep things fresh and exciting.  Leigh is also the team captain for the newly revived Nine and Numb improve troupe, so he has some experience thinking on his feet, and anything could happen.

As always, our intrepid Miss Jaye will be attending as many theatrical productions as she can this upcoming year, so keep your eyes peeled for lots of reviews coming to the site!
