Red River Valley Of The Dolls: Miss Jaye Brings Indie Horror To GF Pride Late Night Movies!

Published on July 27, 2017 by   ·   No Comments

Miss Jaye is back with another late night movie event at the Fire Hall Theatre, and this time she’s going back to her roots: after “instructional” films about the dangers of marijuana (one of them set to campy musical numbers!) and a celebration of the fabulous drag icon Divine at last year’s Grand Forks Pride, this year she’s celebrating pride with two indie horror spectaculars!  And if you’re afraid of creepy dolls, then have we got the perfect nightmare for you!

Doll 02

The first movie on the bill is Dollface, a campy slasher from Horse Creek Productions.  Directed by out director Tommy Faircloth, this film is like a celebration of 80s and 90s slashers with a creepy new horror icon: Crinoline Head!  A group of rowdy students head off into the woods to research the legend of notorious killer Crinoline Head, much to the chagrin of their instructor – the only survivor of Crinoline Head’s last reign of terror!  With they make it back to campus alive?  Will they get an A on their historical research project?  And what secrets is Professor Donner hiding?  Get ready for a fun and feisty slasher that will make you think twice about digging up the secrets of the past – and of peeing in the woods!

Doll 08The second movie in the double feature is Heidi Moore’s Dolly Deadly, a Wretched Productions feature film.  Poor little Benji just wants to spend his days in the trailer park playing make believe and entertaining his dolls.  But the neighborhood kids – and his dysfunctional family – just won’t let him be.  He can only take so much…and when he snaps, be prepared for a gender-bending bloodbath to be unleashed!  This quirky film features interesting cinematography to create surreal dream sequences and visually represent Benji’s growing sense of disconnection and rage, and campy performances that make this odd indie gem a real treasure!

Doll 07

These dolls will give you thrills and chills, and our very own doll Miss Jaye will be hosting and running this crazy circus!  There will be a costume contest: come dressed up in your favorite creepy doll look and have a chance to win a super fabulous prize!  There will be giveaways throughout the evening including books by MP Johnson!  And the first 10 people through the door will receive a weird and wonderful goodie bag!

Doll 09

The fun starts at 9 pm at the Fire Hall Theatre (412 2nd Ave N), tucked between the backside of Central High School and the city building.  The cover is $10, which covers both movies and all other assorted entertainment as well as entry into all of the evening’s giveaways, and half of the proceeds from the ticket price go to benefit the Fire Hall and Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre.  Expect lots of fun and more than a few scares!

Brought to you by Champagne Dreams Productions and their new podcast, Janessa After Dark!  And keep an eye on this site and Miss Jaye’s facebook page for updates to this event!
