Lush Life: Make Room For Mama!

Another trip to Seattle, another frantic race to Lush to see what’s new and fragrant in their lineup of pampering bath goodies!

This post is another holiday-themed selection of products, this time centered on Mother’s Day.  And what better way to celebrate my mother, Mama Champagne, than to get a selection of gorgeous, luxurious bath products…for myself.  Hey, reviewing is a tough job and sometimes sacrifices have to be made!

I picked up 4 different bath bombs or bubble bars and this post will be similar to most of my other Lush posts – I’ll show you the product itself as well as a short video of me throwing it in the bath and seeing what happens.  Here’s what I got:

Lush 01
The red bubble-roon (a play on macaroon, obvi) is Citrus Are Doing It For Themselves; to the right of that is the bath bomb with a cape, Incredible Mom.  The bottom left and right show the two sides of Madame President (if only!).  And the floral design in the left middle, which is actually supposed to look like a cookie, is Mom, Look What I Made You!  There were a couple of other bubbler options, but I’m not as big a fan of bubble baths as I used to be and so I stuck mostly with the regular bath bombs.  That red bubble-roon, however, smelled so damn good that I just had to try it.  I am never disappointed by Lush’s citrus-scented products!

The first one I tried was Mom, Look What I Made You!

This cookie shaped treat was described on the sign as “tropical,” possibly because it is supposed to have a strong coconut milk kind of presence, but I wasn’t really getting that at all.  It had sort of a cookie smell, maybe a little coconut and maybe a little cocoa powder, but nothing that would immediately make me think “Tropical!”  The fragrance is pretty light, so it’s mostly just the color and the spectacle for this one, but it did give a really nice bath.  My least favorite of the group, but still good.

The second product I tried was Incredible Mom:

This one was a lot of fun, very colorful, and fun citrusy scent with some more sensual elements from the ylang ylang.  It was a bummer that the cape didn’t have a special message or something printed on it that would be revealed when the bomb dissolves, but the idea is still pretty cute.  I loved the color and the little bit of glitter, and the fragrance was the best of the 3 bath bombs.  The fragrance on this one was pretty light, but I was fighting off some serious congestion with my allergies, so it may have been my inability to breathe that made it seem less impressive.  I like their playful products and this one was definitely a winner!

The third one was my favorite, and that was the only bubbling product that I tried – Citrus Are Doing It For Themselves Bubble-Roon:

Ugh, I can’t even explain to you how freaking good these smelled!  It had a strong orange scent but also touches of lemon and lime and it was strong and fragrant and just ridiculously yummy!  I absolutely loved these!  Another thing that made these great was the macaroon “filling” and the “icing” on the top, made with moisturizing cocoa butter.  If you want really, really soft skin after a bath, I recommend bettering any of their bath products that have cocoa butter; I’m not sure how they do it, but every time I get out of the bath after using one of those, it’s like I’m coated in this silky smooth moisturizing lotion, and I feel like I can feel the difference for even a day or two after.  So good!

Finally, we went off to a wonderful fantasy world where things went the way they should have gone with Madame President:

This one has grapefruit in it, but it didn’t have the same pizzazz that I usually expect from one of their citrus products.  Don’t get me wrong, it was still pretty great, but the petitgrain definitely tamed down the brightness of the grapefruit and gave it more of a fresh, clean, almost herbal sort of scent.  I did absolutely love the lavender color of the bath and the smell on this one balanced between being really heavy and too light, so overall I thought it was really successful.  I also just really liked the design, and I loved the vivid colors.  Would love to see something like this again!

Lush 13
Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and if she likes a luxurious bath you really can’t go wrong with anything from Lush, but this special capsule collection is really cute and the products are generally really good.  There weren’t any duds in this group, though I would definitely recommend Citrus Are Doing It For Themselves because of the nom nom scent, the silky skin from the cocoa butter, and the beautiful red waters beneath the bubbles.

What do you think: are you living for the Lush Life?  Do you like all of the special edition collections they do for different holidays, or do you want products that stick around and can be purchased all year?  What holiday would you like to see them do next?  What are your favorite products from the Lush line?  Sound off below!

Now is the time of year to celebrate mothers, and I want to give a very special shout out to Mama Champagne and all of her love and support!  She’s pretty fantastic; maybe next time, I’ll pick up some of these products for her as well!
